Basic Policies for Student Selection (Admission Policy)

Master's Degree Program

  1. Desired Applicants

     In accordance with the admission policy of Osaka University and the human resources development policy set forth in the Educational Objectives, the Graduate School of Humanities admits individuals who are highly motivated to acquire traditional and cutting-edge insights on the humanities, advanced specialized knowledge and outstanding academic expertise in language and culture, and broad-based knowledge, design prowess, and an international mindset to identify and address issues independently.

  2. Basic Policies for Student Selection

     In order to appropriately select students who meet the criteria for desired applicants, the Graduate School of Humanities adopts a diverse range of selection methods for each recruitment unit of its five divisions (each department in the case of the Division of Japanese Studies). The Graduate School of Humanities also welcomes applications from students with a major in social sciences and natural sciences, as well as international students and working members of society.

    Relationship with Qualities and Abilities

     In accordance with the admission policy of Osaka University and in consideration of the specific features of the Graduate School of Humanities, each division (each department in the case of the Division of Japanese Studies) examines the abilities and aptitude related to learning and research in the selection process.
